The article describes the concept of “ecocentrism” as an interdisciplinary approach aimed

at solving global problems in the “human-nature” system. Its alternatives — anthropocen-

trism and biocentrism are critically examined. It is shown that anthropocentrism is based

on the classical science; biocentrism — on the nonclassical, ecocentrism — on nonclassi-

cal and postnonclassical. The basic characteristics of ecocentrism are singled out and its

definition is given from philosophical and scientific point of view.
