Cognitive paradigm of psychological science
and conceptualization of giftedness

The article discusses one of possible reasons for the lack of a unified theory of giftedness.
State of knowledge about giftedness accumulated by psychology is assessed from the
standpoint of the general methodology of science. Thesis defended in the article is that
the external ready-made paradigm having non-specific, socio-cultural origin is used as a
paradigm in psychology. The existence of the concept of giftedness is confirmation of this
thesis.
