Problems and prospects of teaching humanities and social
sciences in Bauman Moscow State Technical University
(using cultural and social studies as an example)

The article deals with the problem of teaching humanities and social sciences in techno-
logical universities using the BMSTU Department of Social and Cultural Studies as an
example. We analyse specifics of instruction in cultural and social studies, suggest opti-
mum methods of solving organisational problems so as to increase the humanities and
social sciences component in implementing education programs in a technological uni-
versity.
Keywords: methodology of teaching humanities and social sciences, social studies, cul-
tural studies, innovative teaching methods, problems and prospects of humanities and
social sciences instruction in a technological university.
