Teaching emotive monologue speech to engineering students

in professional communication contexts

The paper presents the rationale for teaching emotive monologues as part of the commu-

nicative competence of engineering students. The significance of this aspect for the pro-

fessional context is justified. The author presents a set of requirements to the learning

activities designed to form the appropriate communication and linguistic skills and abili-

ties. The paper contains sample activities used in the ESP course at Bauman MSTU.
