Narrative description of the Battle of the Neva in the national historiography is based on
sources that contain logical contradictions and allow factual inaccuracies. Analysis of
these sources allows questioning the accuracy of the conventional interpretation of the
Battle of the Neva. As a result the author comes to the conclusion that the Battle of the
Neva is more myth than the historical fact.
Keywords:
Battle of the Neva, Alexander Nevskiy, The Life of Alexander Nevskiy, the First
Novgorod Chronicle, Ancient Russia and Scandinavia in the XIII century, narrativ.
