Problems of state and statehood
in the classical Eurasianism

The article discusses the problems of state in the Eurasians’ doctrine. The key Eurasian
concept — “ideocracy state” is analyzed, as well as the essential characteristics of the
Eurasian concept of government, such as ideocracy, autarchy, idea-ruler, the ruling se-
lection, guarantee state. Structuring concept of the state is a pan-Eurasian nationalism
interpreted by Eurasians as an archetype of ideology, the basis of the national idea. The
main principles of the Eurasian state socio-economic structure is studied. It is concluded
that the Eurasian state concept can be used to a significant enrichment of modern scien-
tific theory, as well as for solving the problems of modernization of the Russian society at
the present stage of its development, as it takes into account specific national, geopoliti-
cal, historical and cultural characteristics of the state and allows preserving the identity
and diversity of the Eurasian world.
