The article presents the scientific concept that states that in the conditions of economic

globalization the development of national economies is a new kind of competitive strug-

gle which can be called “quality competition”. The definition of economic globalization

as a qualitatively new stage in the development of the world economy internationalization

is given in the context of development of scientific and technological progress and pro-

duction. The characteristics of economic globalization are shown: the standardization of

all economic processes, the equalization of consumer demand, the production of similar

goods as a consequence of the penetration of modern technologies and production condi-

tions into the world economy, which in terms of competition means the need for the

emergence of its new forms. Such a new form is the development of national economies

and the strengthening of the role of national states in the struggle for quality of competi-

tion. The prospects of the Russian national economy development are shown on the ex-

ample of the machine-tool industry and the radio electronics industry. It is concluded that

the development of the economic potential of national states is becoming a powerful driv-

ing force for the formation of competitive advantages of a new type associated with the

mechanism of industrial growth based on intensive factors and the development of nano-

technologies, thereby forming a new form of national economies competition manifesta-

tion in the context of further globalization.
