Colonel Edward Нouse’s missions to Europe

The main directions of the U.S. mediation policy at World War I in Europe are described

using archival sources. The course and the role of Colonel E.M. House’s diplomatic mis-

sion in 1914–1916, who was the U.S. president Woodrow Wilson’s personal envoy, are

revealed.
