Migratory movement from Belarus to South Russia
in the second half of the XIX century: the problem outlines

The current study of migration processes in historical perspective is becoming more
common. Especially it is important in the context of such a popular and meaningful for
historiography of young countries subject of ethnic, national and socio-cultural identity.
One of the key tasks of the Belarussian historical science in this regard is the study and
detailed description of the Belarussian population migration in different regions of Russia,
in particular its South — a region having its own specific character and appeal. As a
systemic phenomenon it began in the second half of the XIX century. This work evaluates
how developed the theme, as well as identifies poorly understood areas of the mentioned
issues.
