Affective approach to learning the economic theory

The paper shows that economic theory being a humanitarian general professional discipline is important not only in systematizing the professional knowledge, but also in forming the student's personality as a future producer. It notes that any learning takes place in three different spheres: cognitive, affective and psychomotor. Psycho-emotional features in formation of knowledge and personal characteristics of the students in mastering the economic theory are revealed. It is determined that intellectual development is impossible without the emotional development. The paper shows that formation of an economist lies not only in acquisition of knowledge about the economic laws, but also in their emotional and value reflection in the individual (student) consciousness. The paper considers the affective learning approach, including motivation, emotional attitude, values, beliefs, self-esteem and the other components. It notes that the learning process requires taking into account importance of the students’ emotional and motivational aspects in obtaining the economic knowledge and in its practical application. The most emotionally charged learning methods are highlighted; they include business games and discussions. Given the importance of visualizing information among modern youth and the time constraints, short films, in particular animation (cartoons) from the Soviet cultural layer could become the basis for an economic discussion. The paper concludes that due to the affective approach, further future economist personality forms with reflection of values and development of the emotional intelligence.
