The paper centers on the model of “classical -— non-classical — post-non-classical rationality” proposed by V.S. Stepin. Non-classical rationality is defined as the rationality of the Method — as opposed to the rationality of the Object of classical science. The subject is correlative with respect to the method of cognition - this is the basic premise of the “non-classical” standard of science. Such a reorientation from the “subject” to the “methodological” consideration in the field of social and humanitarian knowledge will be implemented within the framework of the philosophy of the Baden school of neo-Kantianism and its sociological interpretation by M. Weber. The purpose of this study is to explicate the key points of these theories in their antithesis of positivist sociology.
