War period in the life and work of the Volga Folk Choir founder Petr Mikhailovich Miloslavov (based on the materials from the personal collection)

It is for the first time that an attempt is made to analyze and identify the cognitive potential from the source material of the documents stored in the Central State Archive of the Samara Region (CSASR) in personal collection F. R-4973 of the State Volga Folk Choir P.M. Miloslavov (1898–1975) on the war period of the musician's life. Petr Mikhailovich was a volunteer; he served from the beginning to the end of the Great Patriotic War in one unit, i.e. the 64th Order-Bearing Guards Division as a private machine gunner, sapper, and medic. He actively participated in the development of the army amateur art. The paper reveals that the Miloslavov fund contains a set of the various type sources testifying to the Petr Mikhailovich activities in 1941–1945; they include orders and extracts from the orders, photographs, inscripts, creative materials, etc. Front-line letters are making it possible to detail the everyday life elements, features of creativity, and living conditions of a musician in the extreme conditions of war. The paper provides excerpts from the archival documents of the analyzed collection to illustrate the statements. It emphasizes importance of expanding the empirical base in studying the front-line generation by introducing personal sources in general and documents from the Miloslavov’s collection in particular in the scientific circulation.
