Moral factor in modern transitive society: socio-philosophical analysis

The paper focuses on the problem of the moral factor in terms of the ongoing global transformations; outlines the main trends of its manifestation in the conditions of social transitivity; gives the author’s interpretation of the concept of morality introducing a theoretical model of the moral factor, which makes it possible to comprehensively express the role of morality in the system of socio-cultural interactions and reveal its specifics in socio-historical dynamics. In the context of modern transitional society, the contradictory essence of the moral factor is shown: the weakening and fall of public morals, moral and legal regulation; on the other hand, the emergence and deployment of new, life-affirming principles in human existence. Relying on the formational approach, we found that the aggravation of the process of social and moral decay inherent in capitalism is a catalyst for a systemic social crisis, has a reverse, i.e. negative, effect on existing production relations, significantly deforms them and contributes to the emergence of various quasi-economic forms. Findings of research show that the concept of "information and humanitarian civilization" makes it possible to clearly understand the role of morality, its social and humanistic potential in the spiritual and cultural development of modern society, as well as highlight the personal factor as one of the leading driving forces of the cardinal transformation of society.
