The tiered methodology of scientific cognition

The main provision of the tiered methodology of science is that most of the methods of scientific knowledge are not universal in nature and are tied to one of the levels of scientific knowledge, i.e., their application depends on the structure of scientific knowledge of a particular science. In the structure of knowledge of each developed discipline, four levels of scientific knowledge can be distinguished: sensory, empirical, theoretical and metatheoretical. Each of them has its own special ontology, specific subject content and a corresponding set of methods for obtaining, substantiating and assessing this knowledge. Linking the methods of scientific knowledge to different levels of knowledge is well consistent with real cognitive practice and the differentiation of scientific work in science.
