The main stages of forming and developing the psychological concept of giftedness

The article describes the leading socio-cultural paradigms determining the main stages of the forming and developing the psychological concept of giftedness. The paradigms are distinguished and studied in accordance with the linear and paradigmatic principles. The following sociocultural paradigms are identified: ancient cosmocentric, medieval theocentric, renaissance-educational anthropocentric, classical scientist, modern scientist. Each of these sociocultural paradigms determines the corresponding stage of forming and developing the psychological concept of giftedness. The cosmocentric and theocentric stages of conceptualization of the phenomenon of giftedness are considered as well as functional-empirical, protoscientific and modern scientific stages.
