Knowledge specificity in social and human sciences

The article reveals features of social and human sciences: freedom phenomenon existence, subjective reality, high uniqueness degree, experiment application limitedness. It shows that socio-humanitarian knowledge includes all the scientific character criteria: evidence, consistency, empirical verifiability, empirical material reproducibility, general validity, ability to develop. The article considers the explanation types and their essence, i.e. nomological, phenomenological, functional, typological, rational, teleological; the paper defines an understanding as the understanding of the object under study meaning that results in interpretation. The authors show three types of meaning as understanding goals: action and social processes, culture objects meanings, utterances and texts.
