Spanglish as a result of borrowings in modern Spanish language

The study focuses on the influence of English borrowings on the Spanish language and their role in the formation of Spanish-speaking culture. In particular, special attention is paid to such a phenomenon in modern linguistics as "Spanglish" — a mixture of Spanish and English languages which is caused by the active penetration of anglicisms into the Spanish language. The paper deals with both positive and negative features of this unique phenomenon resulting from the mutual influence and interaction of the two different cultures: Spanish, to be exact Latin American, and American. The paper gives a brief historical background on the appearance of borrowings in Spanish, as well as the reasons for this phenomenon; studies the effect of this hybrid of languages on the modern Spanish language; describes the characteristics and the possibilities of its application in information technology, as well as the wide spread use of this concept in periodical literature. Some examples of Spanglish in everyday communication, in periodical and fiction literature are given. The possibility of using this phenomenon in the processes of converting a speech signal into digital information for more efficient and correct perception of the material by automatic speech recognition systems is considered.
