Living metaphors in scientific texts (using texts on mechanical engineering as an example)

The study considers living metaphors found in scientific texts dealing with mechanical engineering. An author's individual potential forms a living metaphor when the process of two semantic fields colliding generates a new meaning. The recipient's emotional response affects the depth and novelty of metaphors, that is, creation of new metaphors.
