Development of domestic machine-tool construction
industry as one of conditions of the Russian economy

The article studies the problem of the domestic machine-tool construction development at
the moment. We emphasize the fact that the industry renewal is one of the main condi-
tions of technical security. We analyze machine park working state and likelihood for
import substitution in the industry. The article presents the historical picture of the ma-
chine-tool construction development in Russia, discusses the reasons for the lagging in-
dustry compared to the modern high-tech equipment production in the leading countries.
We give the comparative characteristics of industry share in the production of GDP.
On the example of "ECM", company producing modern metal-working machines, we
trace the possibility of reviving the machine-tool construction industry, which could lead
Russia to technical independence on imported equipment.
