The article addresses the problem of self-directed students' work (SDSW) distant control and the way it is related with "autonomous education" strategy. The accent is made upon short survey of "autonomous education". The authors share their experience of distant SDSW control usage in technical university ESP course. Home reading checking (reading and translation of the major course texts, conversational tasks) was under way on distant tutorials in Google+. Multimedia study guide was also used for SDSW. The authors are sure SDSW - time saving resource of autonomous education - will become an integral part of educational process in future.
