The paper analyzes reasons in correlating religious attitudes of a certain society and those forms and mechanisms of the banking activity that appeared and began to develop in a particular country from the point of view of the science philosophy and technology. It emphasizes that features in the social behavior of people, including those in the economic behavior, are complexly and nonlinearly determined by the socio-cultural matrices in socialization of the society, where an individual is born, brought up and acts. The paper notes that socio-cultural matrices appear to be sets of the socio-cultural, institutional, psychological and behavioral patterns transmitted during primary socialization through the cultural-behavioral stereotypes and embedded in subconscious of the separate individuals. It attracts attention to a close connection between the religious socio-cultural matrices and the early period in institutionalizing the banking activity. Judaism, Catholicism, Protestantism, Orthodoxy and Islam determine the trajectory in the banking development due to a complex system of prohibitions on certain financial actions. The paper shows that in solving the purely economic problems and achieving profitability in banking, as one of the entrepreneurship types, rather sophisticated tools are always appearing to overcome these prohibitions and achieve the set economic goals. They include a whole set of tricks and sham transactions to receive profit and circumvent the religious guidelines.
