Methods of the Metatheoretical Level of Scientific Cognition

The paper considers the metatheoretical level of scientific cognition which is the most general level of science and scientific knowledge. This level was noted to have a rather complex structure, including paradigmatic scientific theories, special-scientific and general scientific worldviews, ideals and norms of scientific research, the axiology of science, philosophy and methodology of science, and the philosophical foundations of science. The functions of metatheories in scientific cognition and their methods were described. Methodological postulates of post-nonclassical science and its philosophical foundations were formulated.
