E.D. Maximov during the First Russian Revolution

The paper analyzes influence of the First Russian Revolution on historical destiny of the “old” Russian narodnik movement. It considers activities of Evgeny Dmitrievich Maximov (1858–1927), one of its prominent representatives. In spring of 1905, he was an actual State Councilor, but unexpectedly left the state service, allegedly for the health reasons. The paper concludes that the analyzing Maximov's subsequent speeches in the press reveals serious ideological motives for his resignation and concentration on development of a practical program of the “creative” narodnik movement.
