Current issues related to collaboration between the population of the occupied territories of the Leningrad Region and the Germans in 1941–1944 were examined. Administrative records (documents of the German occupation authorities and acts of district commissions established for identifying and investigating the atrocities committed by the German fascist invaders), as well as personal sources (diaries, memoirs, and interviews with witnesses of the German occupation), were studied. The works of historians B.N. Kovalev and N.S. Lomagin who investigated the problems addressed in this article were analyzed. The research methodology is based on the principles of historicism and objectivity. By means of the descriptive-narrative method, the cause-and-effect relationships underlying the behavior of residents of the occupied territories of the Leningrad Region and their entry into German service were identified. Through the principle of systematicity, the available material was generalized and a comprehensive picture of collaborationism among the population of the occupied territories of the Leningrad Region in 1941–1944 was presented. The publication is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and may be used in activities related to preserving historical memory of one of the most tragic and significant events in the history of the country.
