Physical Culture Parades in the Postwar Period of the Soviet Society: Based on Periodical Press Materials from Stalingrad (1945 — Early 1950s)

The article examines the conditions for organizing the first sports parades after the Great Patriotic War in the public life of the reviving city of Stalingrad. Based on an analysis of local history literature and the newspaper “Stalingradskaya Pravda,” the article recreates the scenario of the sports parades and identifies the participants and characteristics of mass sports events in the post-war period. The article approaches the sports parades as an artistic and sporting event that seamlessly fits into the political landscape of Soviet society and the daily life of the post-war era. For the first time, the article highlights the common and specific features of sports parades at the regional level.
