The Mikulin Engineering Dynasty and Bauman Moscow State Technical University

The role of BMSTU in shaping the Mikulin engineering dynasty was examined. On the basis of archival documents and previously published materials, little-known and unknown facts from the biographies of Alexander Alexandrovich Mikulin Sr. (1862–1919) and his son, the outstanding aircraft designer Alexander Alexandrovich Mikulin Jr. (1895–1985), associating them with the technical school, were revealed. The unique system of engineering education at the technical school, founded on the integration of theoretical knowledge and practical skills, as well as the influence of distinguished educators such as N.E. Zhukovsky, P.K. Khudyakov, and others was explored. Special attention was paid to the conditions in which the Mikulins studied and worked, emphasizing their lifelong connection to the institution. The significance of the school as a center for personnel training, which played a key role in establishing and developing the Mikulin family’s engineering tradition was highlighted.
