The Izhevsk period in the history of Bauman Moscow State Technical University

Within the framework of the evolution concept of the “Russian method” of training engineering personnel, a small chronological period associated with the evacuation of the Moscow Mechanical Engineering Institute to Izhevsk was studied. The activities of the N.E. Bauman MMMI team, which managed not only to use the accumulated educational experience, but also to modernize the “Russian method” in the conditions of the Great Patriotic War, filling it with new scientific and technical content, were examined. For the first time, the original report of the Moscow Higher Technical School named after N.E. Bauman to the Main Directorate of Educational Institutions in 1945 from the funds of the Moscow State Technical University Museum was analyzed. Answers to controversial questions about the timing, methods and results of the Moscow Mechanical Engineering Institute evacuation to Izhevsk were given. The difficulties faced by the evacuees, the ways of overcoming problems in the face of the enemy, the organization of the activities of both students and teachers in the Udmurt ASSR, and their contribution to the Victory over the enemy were examined.
