This article considers the problem of social responsibility of formation and its share in the sociocultural competence of future engineers. Particular attention is drawn to the place and role of social responsibility in the engineering programs of russian and foreign universities and professional registration systems of technical university graduates. The ways of social responsibility formation as a competence with the help of the humanities are suggested.
