The paper focuses on the stages of the evolution of society: from agrarian to industrial and post-industrial. In the dynamics of the transition from one type to another, an important role is played by the transformation resource, which was implemented in the form of knowledge. Scientific knowledge as a social phenomenon makes it possible to predict the main directions of development and formation of society. Today scientific knowledge has become the main factor in the improvement of civilization.
