The article presents a content analysis of cryptocurrency traders’ communication in digital forums from the perspective of the economic sociology of trade. It is demonstrated that economic action constitutes a form of social action, embedded in social structures and functioning as a social institution that satisfies basic human needs. The analysis is based on messages from a real trading Telegram chat and employs G. Lasswell’s communication act model (S–O–R). It is shown that digital forums create a specific social ecosystem in which collective trading decisions are shaped not only by market factors but also by social norms, hierarchies, rituals, and participants’ needs. Particular attention is paid to communication features under conditions of anonymity, digital status markers, and mechanisms of social control in online environments.
