The Philosophy of the Russian Avant-Garde in the Context of the Relationship Between Man and Society

The multifaceted philosophy of the Russian avant-garde of the first half of the twentieth century is examined. Particular attention is paid to the paintings of the first-wave avant-garde artists (the 1913 exhibition), as well as to their poetry, journalistic writings, futurist constructivism, and photographic painting of the 1930s. Semantic parallels are identified between Suprematism, Constructivism, Futurism, and Fauvism and the philosophy of Cosmism, Nietzscheanism, and the metamodernist aspirations of transhumanists, both past and present. It is concluded that the Russian avant-garde remains a field of numerous unexplored meanings and an underestimated catalyst for a distinctive human perception of the self within the technosphere. This conclusion is supported by the large number of exhibitions devoted to the Russian avant-garde that continue to be held both in major Russian cities and in regional centers, attracting sustained public interest.
