The features of terrorist activity in the era of globalization have been identified, and their underlying causes have been analyzed. Two main approaches to assessing the interaction between the globalization process and terrorist activity are considered: an approach that recognizes the regular (systemic) nature of this interaction, and an approach that acknowledges its planned (intentional) character. Both objective and subjective factors contributing to the spread of terrorism are examined. Objective factors include the relationships among various world civilizations that have come into confrontation. Subjective factors are represented by various actions aimed at countering globalization processes by nationally oriented organizations, entrepreneurs, politicians, and cultural figures that protect the sovereignty of their countries and national culture. It is shown that globalization creates conditions for small terrorist groups to unite at an international scale and carry out the most dangerous terrorist acts with more severe consequences than in the pre-globalization era. It is demonstrated that the intensification of globalization undermines the stability of the social super-system, triggers reactions from anti-globalists and eco-terrorists, and increases conflict potential in interethnic relations. The study concludes that globalization leads to the growth of terrorist activity aimed at chaotic disruption and destruction of social relations and systems. It is noted that the methodology of social synergy is the most effective approach for studying terrorism, as it reveals the ways globalization influences contemporary terrorist activity. The results obtained can be used to develop new strategies for ensuring the security of countries and society as a whole, taking into account the impact of globalization processes on terrorism.
